Artsy Fartsy

Vinyl toy designer and artist Gary Baseman is having a show in Culver City at the Corey Helford Gallery (8522 Washington Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232).  The show is called La Noche de La Fusion- A Celebration and is going to be on May 2nd from 6:30-10pm.  Opening celebrations will include women in Baseman inspired costumes, fire performers, samba dancers and more.  The show goes until the 23rd and really should be a must see.  Of course if you want to put his work into your wardrobe, then you would need to buy the seatbelt bag designed by Baseman at www.seatbeltbags.com

Just your basic "T"

Now tshirts can be total pieces of art in themselves.  While you can give special fits and cashmire T's from The Olsen's "The Row", you can also get really great prints these days. the T shape

Now I hope that fashion designers are just getting bored, but really, did they need to bring back shoulder pads?? really?  I mean cap sleeves are cute.  i'm down with that, but shoulder pads?  The "T shape" is meant to make ur shoulders look wider and therefore the rest of your body look smaller.  So even though Lady Gaga maybe able to have fun with exagerations, I so do not think William Rast should have included shoulder pads in everything, even T Shirts.  As my sister was quick to point out, now is a free for all, you can do whatever you want.  So, don't do this.  Unless you are a pop star.  =)

Bras Gone Wild

Ok I found this on fabsugar and I just had to share.  This is a bra that you are supposed to draw on.  I guess that the goal is for young girls to feel more comfortable with growing up, but its just so hippie and weird and could be kind of kinky.  The design u draw doesn't even stay, each time you wash ur bra its like a new opportunity to draw on your own tits.  its like those old doodle bears that came in stonewashed blue and pint.  plus this Doodle Bra comes with stencils so you can make ur bra so pretty.  haha.  just so silly.

Limogesjewelry.com is a random site that I think has the cheapest engraved jewelry.  Which is totally great.  Why spend 50 dollars on some clever quote someone came up with when you can put it on your own dog tag, or ring, or watch or whatever.  I have one with a robin hood quote and i really love it, wear it all the time.  Plus its really just so cheap to get.  If you sign up for their mailing list there are always discounts they are offering, but i warn u, there is a new one every day.  so give it to yourself or an inside joke between friends, I might go for something more original than the engravings they suggest.  make it totally amazing and totally you.  

Giraffes with long long necks

Nude Girls

Nude Nude Nude, I keep seeing all over this season Nude coloring.  Nude heels are great for extending your legs.  Tops are very sexy and suggestive.  Just don't go too nude, keep some hints of color and maybe night time add some black tights for contrast.

D.V.F dares to go there in your hair

Diana von Furstenberg made this flowered head piece.  And while headpieces are always a little daring, i think this one takes it to the next step.  It looks hippie and fierce on the runway, but could u imagine a night on the town?  Whitney Porter tried at the Hills premiere, and while I have to always applaud risk takers, why spend the money for a DVF when you can go to Medieval Times and get it for a fraction of the cost?

Reaching new HEIGHTS

Thigh high boots always remind me slightly of Julia Roberts in pretty woman.  Almost to prostitutes what the platform clear heal is to strippers.It is interesting that a boot that covers more skin can be so sexy.  But every time I see someone wearing thigh high boots I just think it looks so hott.  This pair I found on moda.com.  They arent everywhere but they certainly make a statement, and its not a slutty one anymore.  It is a daring style icon statement, which is a for sure do!
